What you're about to read is a collection of pointers to some of the music I've discovered on the iTunes Music Store, music I like enough that I want to share it. If you're an iPod owner and an iTunes fan (and if you aren't, what are you doing here?), maybe you'll find something new. Click on any of the CD covers to bounce over to the store and sample a few tracks. And then maybe stop by my other blog for a few well chosen words (and maybe a random snark or two).RSS feed

The Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project
I had another entry ready to go for today. And then I read the latest issue of As The Apple Turns, a usually reliable source for Apple-related humor and news. And I wasn't amused. Which was the point, because for once these guys were serious.

This album is in aid of Sudanese refugees, with all the proceeds going to help people who've lost everything in the Darfur attacks. Including Apple's usual share, which they're donating. And they're advertising the album, which is the first charitable use of the iTMS. You can read about it at AtAT. Or at iTMS. But the point is that it's one purchase you can feel good about, especially as we jump into the holiday season. Peace on Earth and good will and all that.

Update 11/26: I received an email from the project coordinator thanking me (Me? Really?) for mentioning the CD here. And pointing out that there's more information about the album and the project on their site: http://www.modiba.net/.
